#Wii Family Fun - No Online Requirement, Limited Accessories

Wii Family Fun - No Online Requirement, Limited Accessories
This is for parents who are considering purchasing the Nintendo Wii console for the kids. This list includes suggestions for games and equipment that will provide hours of wholesome family fun in which everyone can participate

Wii Buy new: $199.99 / Used from: $94.99 Obviously, the console is the first step in getting the game system. I'm recommending the older bundle because you can get used units cheaper. Includes remote, nunchuk, and Wii Sports.
Wii Remote Controller Buy new: $39.73 / Used from: $12.99 This is the basic controller for the Wii console. You can sync up to 4 controllers to the console at one time (check individual games for number of supported players).
Wii Nunchuk Controller - White Buy new: $14.54 / Used from: $5.99 This is an extension of the basic Wii Remote that includes a joystick. It's not required for all games, but you should probably purchase one for each of your remotes - it will make your game experience more enjoyable.
Wii Sports Buy new: $37.98 / Used from: $16.99 I'm including this game in the list even though it should come bundled with the console (at least the one I recommended). There are many great activities here for 1 to 4 players, and it keeps track of everyone's high score.
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Buy new: $65.99 / Used from: $16.00 This is a great family game in which up to four players can play simultaneously. Includes ping pong, skeet shoot, archery, and many other fun games.
Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games Buy new: $38.54 / Used from: $22.73 This is a version of the previous item updated for the Winter Olympics. Includes skiing, bobsleigh, and much more. Wii Balance Board is compatible but not required.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl Buy new: $44.99 / Used from: $25.49 This is a family-friendly alternative to games like Mortal Kombat, etc. Compatible with old GameCube controller (not required). Hours upon hours of zany fun.
Mario Party 8 Buy new: $46.99 / Used from: $25.99 Plays somewhat like a board game with your favorite Mario characters. Full of mini-games - excellent for playing with family and friends.
